PGA TOUR Open Qualifiers
Four spots into most non-invitational PGA TOUR events, decided the Monday of tournament week.
The open qualifier is the game's hardest one-round test. Most non-invitational PGA TOUR events set aside four spots, filled through an 18-hole qualifier held the Monday of tournament week. For most fields there is an 18-hole pre-qualifier earlier that week that feeds the limited Monday spots, so many players have to survive two rounds to make the tournament. It is open-entry: no tour card required.
- Pre-qualifier (18 holes)Held earlier in the week for events where entries exceed the Monday field. Low scores advance into the Monday qualifier.
- Monday qualifier (18 holes)The Monday of tournament week. The top four (for most events) earn a spot in that week's field. Ties for the last spot go to a playoff.
Stringing Monday starts into enough FedExCup points can lead to Special Temporary Membership, but only a small handful of players a year make real headway this way.
