High-Low Pitch Game

A pitching drill for the Foundations stage, on the practice green, in about 15 minutes.

Introduces two basic pitch trajectories as a game so a young golfer feels the difference between a soft, high shot and a low, rolling one.

Steps

  1. 01Set one landing target on the green.
  2. 02Have a parent or practice partner call out high or low before each shot.
  3. 03On high, fly the ball soft and let it stop close to where it lands.
  4. 04On low, land the ball short and let it run out toward the target.
  5. 05Switch caller roles halfway through so the golfer also gets to call shots.
